Nature will never stop amazing us; its therapeutic virtues
are immeasurable; Madagascar is a god-blessed country; The
richness of its endemic flora offers aromatic and medicinal
plants of about 12,000 species. It is one of the richest
and most diversified flora in the world. It is well known
that the Great Island is the country of "fanafody"
and "tambavy" which are natural medicine and decoction
with multiple virtues.
Malagasy
people have always cured themselves through nature: From
century to century, they have learned to deal with the active
constituents dwelling in the countless medicinal plants
- which are sometimes unique in the world - of the country.
Each region in Madagascar has its own traditional Pharmacopoeia.
Soil plays a very important part in medicinal plants. Moreover,
Malagasy people live with plants, communicate with them
as if they possessed a soul: The use of plants for curing
action has long been associated with magic-sacred. We must
admit that some plants such as the Periwinkle of Madagascar
amazed the research workers with troubling discoveries:
It may have different active principles at every level of
extraction. "Well known for its properties against
some forms of cancer, the extract of periwinkle is revealed
as efficient against heart disease at the seventh extraction".
Scientific exploration of Malagasy plants has not yet revealed
all its secret... Throughout the country, thousands of other
plants have always been used traditionally to heal minor
or great daily ills.

For about ten years now, an institution based in Antananarivo
has given a new dimension for this tradition. At the present
time, HOMEOPHARMA is already using 1,500 plants for its
products, that means only about 10% of the plants it inherited
from a 200 years uninterrupted lineage of great Masters
and traditional practitioners. Every year, researches and
innovations keep going on.
HOMEOPHARMA assumes its products from the planting to the
final products. It is implanted in many regions of the island.
It plants, crops and harvest over a 600 Ha of forests, trains
local countrymen in a participating move for the development
of the region, for the protection and the renewal of vegetal
resources helping to preserve the environment and its biodiversity.
